Finding the right camping tents is a little difficult when shopping
for them these days just for the simple
fact that there are so many. Online tent reviews would be a great place to get
started finding information on the best camping tents, but if you don't have that kind
of time, here are a few things to consider when shopping for your new
tent.
Camping tents come in a variety of different
shapes and sizes. There are backpacking tents that are very
light weight and easy to carry when you are in the backcountry. These tents
are usually smaller and will only accommodate one or two campers
comfortably. There are also family camping tents that can
accommodate eight or more people. These tents are best for
families or larger numbers of campers. Not only can these tents
sleep many people, but if you set up a small table or sit on the
ground inside, it makes an excellent bug free place to sit and eat.
One of the biggest things to realize when choosing a camping tent
is the number of people that will be sleeping inside. All tents have recommendations
for the number of people it will hold but in my, and many others experiences,
a tent that is rated for one to two more people than you intend to use it for
would be the optimal choice. Typically the recommended ratings do not include
any extra room for gear or storage. So, unless you have a spare tent or will be
camping very close to the car be sure to keep this in mind.
Another thing to keep in mind when choosing your camping tents is how the
seems are put together. Optimally, the seems will be taped on both sides
but this does not always guarantee water won't get in. To be safe, always
seal the seems prior to the first use with a recommended seam sealer.
Of course online tent reviews can give
you a great deal of information about exactly which camping tent to
choose, but if you are ready to take a look at some great tents from a
few different retailers, feel free to check out some of the links on
this page.
